Started in mid-2004, Renaissance Child were first called "Friginity", and only had three members, James on LeadJymi guitar, Rob on Rhythm guitar and Dave on vocals. They only played one gig, and finally managed to persuade Jonny to join, who would be the drummer. A name change to Renaissance followed and 3 months after the new line-up, Renaissance had their first gig, Kingsfest, which was run by their school. This then lead to the band recording their first demo CD, titled "National Minority". Then by a mutual understanding, James left the band, and in stepped Marcus on Keys and Bass. This change brought a new sound and dimension to Renaissance. They now had bass, and keys occasionally. After a lack of gig opportunities, Renaissance played their first gig with Marcus at their school, wooing the passers by that heard the start of something exciting. They then went onto play at Winfest, having sold 47 tickets and playing in front of around 80 people. They had a break from gigging, in order to focus on their next CD, "Above the Noise", which was recorded on Christmas Eve 2005. Their next gig would see them do battle against some of Winchester's top young bands in their age group, of which they won to go through to final and compete for the prize of being Blue Heat winners. This was in front of over 200 people at Winchester Guildhall. Sadly due to the nature of the competition, it wasn't to be Renaissance who would win. However, that night the name was again changed to "Renaissance Child". So now to the present. RNChild are constantly trying to raise the standard of their song writing, and are working on their latest CD, which is looking to have a more mature sound. Welcome to the Revolution...
